Recently, a news article claiming the death of King Charles has brought attention to the topic of fake news. Owing to the rapid development and globalization of social media platforms, social media has become a major source for millions of global users to obtain news. Meanwhile, fake news has also increasingly appeared on different media platforms. There was a study found that over 120000 fake news were generated on Twitter between 2006 to 2017 and the spread of fake news was six times faster than accurate content. Even though the news are false, why are many people still easily fooled by them? How can we “fact check” the news to ensure the information we receive is true?
